Rewind:My first London fashion week

30 May

As I’m going to BFW I thought I’d take a look back at my first London fashion week! Also if you haven’t seen this post before enjoy!

*Sorry for the terrible picture quality, I didn’t have my camera yet!

Yesterday as I said was a dream! Even though I’m a Londoner it was my first trip to LFW. The first show I went to with two friends was the Masha ma show at the Freemasons hall in Covent garden.Seeing as this was my first fashion show I was being very cautious when it came to timing,so we turned up one hour early! The show was short and sweet just enough to wet the fashion appetite. The collection was based on female empowerment and that was evident. The use of  scarlet red patent boots on all the models added that powerful feel to the collection. The palette featured  scarlet red, camel, white and mint. Many pieces were embellished with swaroksi crystals. The use of layering and the capes added to that autumnal feel. A very tailored and sophisticated collection.

I loved the pieces by Hokum-Hokum.The duo, T Lee and Jae Hee Chung took inspiration from Asian and European cultures. I loved this clever jacket they have. T lee described to me that you can wear the top layer in any way you want. As a shawl, hood or any other way you want!

This skirt, by Tzegoh, was my favourite piece from the whole entire exhibition. The skirt is made out of foam! It just stood out for me. It’s so structured but yet still fun and ‘easy to wear’.

The fashion mode show

My second show of the day was the fashion mode show held in the same venue. The show was well attended, there were SO many people! You could really feel the fashion buzz. I had third row seats which came as a shock to me!

First up was Florian Jayet.  He gave us leather in browns and white. Quilted. Tartan. Capes. Leather. Nude heels. A gorgeous floor length black sheer dress. High collars. Structure. You almost got a ‘bull’ feel from the hair styling and head accessories which added to that authoritarian feel.

James Hillman

Menswear. A very slick sharp collection. Zips gong up the collars. Silk. Gorgeous leather man bags. The buttons were done up to the top. Trench coats. Suede. The music was so catchy! The line ‘ tears like diamonds’ was stuck in my head for ages!

This show gave me a red ridding hood/fairytale feel. It was truly mesmerizing. She opened with a red ruffle short dress with a white fur shawl, which seem to be very prevalent in the collection. There was also shearling ,which was the staple piece for A/W 10,puff sleeves, leather shorts and the most eye-catching floor length red dress. She even had hand muffers! The models had wildly back combed hair with extra long white eyelashes and white glittery faces.

My favourite looks from Mary Katrantzou A/W

26 Feb

The first thought to pop into my head was ‘Alice in Wonderland’ when I saw these pictures. I love the mixture of prints that really should clash but somehow work so well together! The cute lampshade shape of the skirt gives this collection more of a S/S feel. Which is a good thing!

These are my favourite looks, check out the boots! Hot or what?! :

London fashion week: Topshop unique

24 Feb

How many Dalmatians? 101 of course! Dalmatians seems to be the hottest/ unexpected trend for A/W as see  in the Burberry collection as well.

This collection is very ‘cutesy’ with the Minnie mouse buns and gives off a ‘Hollywood glamour’ preppy feel. I absolutely love no 5 look. The rich fur as a shawl and the fur trim detail on the trench is just exuberant. The peg leg trousers. Peter pan collars which seem to be sticking around and I love them! Sheer. Feathers. Whimsical tops.

London fashion week: Burberry Prorsum A/W 2011

22 Feb

Ok, no exaggeration, I was almost in tears watching the live stream of the Burberry A/W show. The fact that the models walked to Adele’s ‘ Someone like you’.  I found it that chilling and moving. It was also beamed across the world and shown at Piccadilly circus!

This collection just pops. Literally . It looks as if Burberry will be the go to place for winter coats. Again!

The bright coats with the matching bags. The dalmatian flat caps. Trench coats.  Cropped capes. Military feel. Camel. Fur. Checks. Flares. This is what I call a A/W collection.  I absolutely love the knitted white jumper and hat, such a contrast to the first look which saw Jordan Dunn in the captivating bright orange coat and matching bag.

The snow at the end was the perfect way to end a spectacular show.

p.s I need one of those rain coats!

London fashion week: Sass & Bide

19 Feb

This collection is JAW DROPPING! Corals, magenta and fuchsia. This collection gives off an urban feel.Such an eclectic mix of cultures, styles, fabrics and colours. This collection veers in the other direction to the others I’ve seen so far. It’s more liberated and relaxed. It almost feels like a S/S collection to be honest!!

London fashion week: Jean-Pierre Braganza

18 Feb

I love the clean/powerful vibe Jean-Pierre gave us from his collection. This collection just emits luxury. The thick fur collars , sheer peekaboo stripes(which seem to be all the rage!), double-breasted trench coats and the kaleidoscope design.A very confident collection from the former Central Saint Martin’s graduate.

My favourite piece is the thick fur collared coat.It reminds me of an Arctic fox.Fierce yet vulnerable.
